PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION - GROUP COURSESOverviewSmall, group structured 3-day program sponsored by a massage or physical therapy school and taught by Jo-Ann Wilson. Course includes one day of classroom review and two days in private barns working with competition horses. StructureDay 1: Classroom - 9:00AM to 4:30PM Introduction, anatomy and physiology review Contraindications Ethics Presentation of the Wilson Meagher™ Method Application and practice of techniques Body mechanics Strengthening exercises for the therapist Written test and practical evaluation. Day 2: Clinical Field Work in Barns - 9:00AM to 5:00PM Demonstration of technique on horse by Jo-Ann Hands-on application of technique Location and palpation of specific muscle attachments Body mechanics Safety Contraindications Strengthening and Conditioning Written test Day 3: Clinical Field Work in Barns - 9:00AM to 5:00PM Gait analysis and muscular kinetics (observing horse's motion to determine muscular tightness before and after application of method) Identifying primary and secondary causes of muscle tightness Application of technique Evaluation of appropriate strength for required performance Interviewing riders and trainers Test on practical application and results.
